zNano seeks to exploit advances in nanoscience to commercialize low cost, high performance membranes and integrate them into devices.  Nano technology allows scientists and engineers to control and characterize materials on the molecular level.  This results in membranes with the potential for orders of magnitude faster transport and orders of magnitude greater selectivity than existing commercial membranes at lower cost.  zNano envisions initial commercials markets for these membranes in energy conversion, energy storage, and carbon capture.  Long term, the nanoscience of membranes could allow for the creation of devices that previously were not possible due to the poor performance and chemical homogeneity of current membranes.  zNano was founded by a team of researchers who both have demonstrated success in the development of nanotechnology and remain deeply tied to the academic community where the frontier of nanotechnology is being pursued.
